Camping Style

This trek involves remote tent camping in undeveloped mountain areas. Campsites are basic and exposed, offering wide-open views and clear night skies. Nights can be cool to cold, especially before sunrise.

Food

Meals are prepared by our trekking team and designed to be warm, filling, and restorative after long hiking days. Expect simple Thai-style dishes, along with hot drinks in the mornings. Dietary requirements should be communicated in advance.

Facilities

Facilities are extremely limited. Toilets are basic, and there are no showers, electricity, or mobile signal for most of the trek. This is a true off-grid experience.

Trail Conditions

The trail includes steep slopes, rocky ascents, rope-assisted climbs, and scrambling sections near the summit. Trails may be slippery, especially after rain or morning dew. Hiking sticks are recommended. While paths are marked, this is a remote area—attention to footing and pace is essential.

Experience Level

This trek is moderate but challenging for first-timers in high-altitude settings. Participants should be fit, confident on uneven terrain, and able to carry part of their personal gear. Some trekking experience is recommended, as this trail requires endurance, careful navigation, and self-reliance.

Weather & Environment

Mountain weather can change quickly. Expect cool mornings, warm afternoons, wind on exposed ridges, and cold nights. Fog and mist are common and part of the experience.

Pack Weight

With porters carrying group gear, participants only need a daypack with personal items, water, snacks, camera, and clothing layers. Pack weight is typically light (~4–6 kg), allowing for a more comfortable hiking experience.

Respect for Nature

These trails pass through sensitive ecosystems and local community areas. All participants must follow Leave No Trace principles, respect nature, and follow guide instructions at all times.

Trip Itinerary

  • We arrive early at Ban Mae Jwang, where there is time to freshen up before enjoying breakfast together. After organising gear and meeting local guides and porters, we begin the trek.

The trail starts gently along rice fields before climbing into shaded forest. Small streams and natural rest points provide relief from the heat as we ascend steadily toward higher ground.

After lunch, the terrain becomes steeper, following narrow ridges and grassy slopes. Some sections require careful footing, but the effort is rewarded with expanding mountain views. By mid-afternoon, we reach Mon Tule campsite, set up tents, and rest.

In the late afternoon, we hike to the Mon Tule summit (1,350 m) for sunset. Golden light washes across rolling hills and grasslands — an unforgettable first night in the mountains.

Dinner is served back at camp, followed by quiet time under a star-filled sky.

    Trekking time: 5–6 hours
    Overnight: Tent camping (Mon Tule)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Before sunrise, those who wish can hike back to the summit to witness morning mist filling the valleys below. Hot coffee and light snacks are enjoyed as the day begins.

After breakfast, we pack up and continue trekking toward Jo Vale, following forested ridges and undulating hills. The trail rises and falls gently, offering constant views and peaceful walking through untouched landscapes.

We arrive at Jo Vale campsite in the afternoon — a newly opened area surrounded by pristine forest and open skies. After setting up camp, there’s time to relax, explore, or photograph the surroundings.

As evening approaches, we walk to a nearby viewpoint for sunset over golden grasslands. Dinner is shared at camp, followed by exceptional stargazing in one of the darkest skies in the region.

    Trekking time: 3–4 hours
    Overnight: Tent camping (Jo Vale)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • We wake early for sunrise and, weather permitting, enjoy a final sea-of-mist display from near the campsite. After breakfast, we pack up and begin our descent.

The route passes along scenic ridges, including Yod Kari Pu and Yod Klui, offering one last stretch of panoramic mountain views. By early afternoon, we reach Mon Klui, where we stop for lunch and rest.

A 4WD transfer brings us back to Ban Mae Jwang to freshen up before beginning the return journey.
