The trail narrows along San Mu Dong Ridge, a steep and exposed section requiring careful footing. The reward is sweeping mountain views that stretch across the horizon.
After lunch on the trail, the final ascent follows the “Stairway to the Sky”, a steep series of narrow steps leading to the summit of Doi Luang Phayao (1,694 m). Camp is set up near the summit, where sunset views and stargazing over Phayao Lake create a memorable first night.
