Mount M’Goun Trek

Ascension of a 4,000-Metre Atlas Giant

Trip Schedule : 15 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

Rising to 4,068 metres above sea level, Mount M’Goun is the second-highest peak in Morocco and one of the most remote and rewarding mountains in the High Atlas range.

Far from busy trekking routes, this journey explores the M’Goun Massif, a vast landscape of high plateaus, deep gorges, dramatic ridgelines, and timeless Amazigh (Berber) villages. Unlike single-day summit hikes, this trek is a true mountain journey — slow, immersive, and deeply connected to both nature and culture.

Days unfold through fertile valleys like Aït Bouguemez, often called the “Happy Valley,” before climbing into wild alpine terrain where silence dominates and horizons stretch endlessly. The summit day offers a long but non-technical ascent, rewarded by sweeping views across the High Atlas and the Moroccan desert beyond.

This trek is not about rushing to the top — it’s about earning the mountain, step by step, with space to adapt, breathe, and truly experience life in the Atlas

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Altitude & Acclimatization

This trek reaches elevations above 4,000 metres, where altitude can affect even fit hikers. Our guides closely monitor the group and adjust pace when needed. A flexible mindset and honest communication are essential.

Accommodation Style

This trek combines simple guesthouses (gîtes) in villages and full bivouac camping in remote mountain areas.

Guesthouses are basic but welcoming, usually family-run, offering shared rooms with mattresses, blankets, and communal dining spaces. Comfort is simple and authentic rather than hotel-style.
