Khun Nam Ngo 101 km Trek
Mae Hong Son, Northern Thailand
Season: Mid January – February

Khun Nam Ngo is not just a trek — it is one of Thailand’s most demanding long-distance mountain trails, stretching 101 kilometres through remote forest, ridgelines, river valleys, and rural highland communities.
This legendary route crosses multiple ecosystems and isolated villages, where footpaths remain the primary connection between communities. Days are long, terrain is constantly changing, and progress is earned step by step.
There are no shortcuts here. Only steady movement, mental resilience, and teamwork.
Those who complete Khun Nam Ngo don’t just finish a trail — they carry the experience with them long after the journey ends.

Camping Style
This is a fully mobile camping expedition. We set up camp in a new location each night, often in remote forest clearings or ridge-top sites. Tents are shared, and all camps are simple, functional, and designed for wilderness travel rather than comfort.
Food
Meals are freshly prepared by the trekking team and focused on energy, warmth, and recovery. Expect hearty local dishes, rice, vegetables, and simple proteins. Food is nourishing and practical rather than elaborate, suited to long days on the trail.
Facilities
There are no showers during the trek. Toilet facilities are basic and set up at campsites where possible. A proper shower and changing facilities are available at Mae Ngao National Park headquarters at the end of the expedition.
Trail Conditions
Trails include steep ascents and descents, narrow ridges, dense forest, river valleys, and uneven ground. Some sections may be muddy or slippery, especially after rain. This is a remote trekking area with minimal infrastructure and limited trail signage.
Experience Level
This trek is for experienced and physically strong hikers. Participants should be comfortable trekking multiple long days in a row, managing fatigue, and adapting to remote conditions.
Weather & Environment
Mountain weather is unpredictable. Expect cool mornings, warm afternoons, humidity in forest sections, and occasional rain. Mist and low cloud are common, especially at higher elevations.
Pack Weight
Participants must be comfortable carrying a multi-day trekking pack over long distances and varied terrain.
• No porter support
• Long daily distances with a full pack
• Efficient, lightweight packing is essential
• Prior experience carrying a loaded pack is strongly recommended
Self-Supported Expedition (No Porters)
This is a fully self-supported trek.
There are no porters on the Khun Nam Ngo 101 km expedition.
All participants are required to carry their own backpack, including personal gear, clothing, sleeping equipment, and daily essentials throughout the entire route.
Shared group equipment and food are distributed among participants where applicable, but each trekker must be physically prepared to carry their own load for multiple consecutive days.
This self-supported format is a core part of the challenge — demanding not only physical endurance, but discipline, efficient packing, and mental resilience.
